This will be a fun day and a good tune-up for both you and your dog. There will also be a raffle, lunch, snacks and refreshments for everyone. Plus all proceeds will go to SNE NAVHDA! If you want to participate, call Rocky DeSimone 860-742-0210.

$95 entry fee (per team) required with each entry application. Lunch is included.

A "team" consists of 2 gunners hunting over 1 dog, There is a 15-team limit
(available on a first come basis)
This is a one-day event held in a series of fields.
No electronic or dummy collars are permitted.
A maximum of 2 dogs may be entered by any one person.
Females in season will be run last.
Entrants wanting to know their scheduled hunting slot as determined by drawing can call Rocky DeSimone 860-742-0210 anytime after April 7th. Arriving 1-2 hours BEFORE your slot is advised!

The Hunt
Each team will have 30 minutes to hunt the designated area.
The presence of 5 chuckar will be confirmed prior to each hunt.
Each team is allowed to use a total of 10 shells in the field. Bring your own shells.
Shot size: 6's or smaller
Gun size: 12 ga or smaller
Blaze orange vests and/or hats are required during the hunt. Pump guns or semi-autos MUST be plugged (3 shell capacity maximum)

Scoring
Once a team bags 5 birds, their hunt is over.
They will receive 1point for every minute under 30 not used.
Each team will receive 50 points for each bird bagged.
Three points will be awarded for every shell not used.
25 points will be awarded for a dog's point of each bird.
25 points will be awarded for each retrieve. All birds must be retrieved.
A judge will walk each 30-minute hunt. Judge's decision is final. The judge has the prerogative to award a bird not shot due to safety circumstances beyond the team's control. (If the judge is in the line of fire)
Dogs will be allowed to take out one bird per hunt, receiving only 25 points for the bird and costing the team 2 shells. No points for birds taken out after one.

Notes
The definition of "point" for the purpose of scoring dog performance will be deemed as, "staunch, intense and unmistakable to point."

The definition of "retrieve" will be defined as, "the return of shot game to the immediate proximity of the handler/gunner." (3 to 5 feet)

There is no running water on the grounds, so please be sure to bring plenty of water for both you and your dog.
Bill Paul with Morningstar's Just About Jenna, winning the 2005 Pointing Dog Championship title. Bill's other dog, Pepper (Jenna's mom), took third.

Bob Lavoie and Hopping Harley Davidson took 2nd place.
